about
“‘Hold My Hand’ is inspired by club music (Marie Davidson and Syclops were two big inspirations for this track), I sampled and cut up a bunch of delayed vocals I had recorded through my Eventide TimeFactor pedal, and the arpeggiated bass and the relentless, distorted arp (recorded on the Korg Arp Odyssey) were two key musical motifs that propel the song forward. Thematically, the song deals with how a simple gesture like holding hands can be interpreted, is it reserved for true intimacy or is it casual? The question “why do you want to hold my hand?” Is a stand-in for the deeper query of “what are we?” that we’re often afraid of asking in the alienating landscape of modern dating.” - Tatyana
lyrics
Keep my name out of your mouth, baby, I just want to dance
We can keep it going long as you know that we’re playing at romance
But if there’s nothing in between us why d'you wanna hold my hand
Yeah if there’s nothing in between us why d'you wanna hold my hand
Coz there’s no other girl like me out there boy help
me understand it
And it wasn’t like I asked you for this, none of it was planned yeah
So if there’s nothing in between us why’d you wanna hold my hand
If there’s nothing in between us why you acting like a fan
Hold my hand hold my hand x4
If there’s no
thing going on here why you making all this fuss huh
Coz I’ve been thinking, every second that I gave you is a second that I lost yeah
And I wish that I could make you see that there is nothing that I want from ya, oh no no
If you think I’m trying to teac
h ya, tryna teach you about love well
This isn’t love isn’t love isn’t love
But if there’s nothing in between us why d’you wanna hold my hand
Yeah if there’s nothing in between us why d’you wanna hold my hand
Hold my hand x4

Don't be fooled by the iridescent sheen of this glitchy electro-pop artist from London; her music has a tender heart. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 26, 2021
Smart, energetic and hooky; modern take on a post-punk/new wavey vibe with lyrics that perfectly capture the distortions of modern life, social media, etc. Claire Battle
